From Burnout to Flow: How I Stopped Forcing and Started Thriving

From Burnout to Flow: How I Stopped Forcing and Started Thriving

I used to believe that if I could just get more organized, more disciplined, more perfect, then everything would finally fall into place. I spent years chasing an ever-moving target—proving my worth through packed schedules, relentless ambition, and a constant push to do more, be more. I told myself it was all necessary, that success required sacrifice.

But inside? I was exhausted.

From the outside, I looked like I had it together—thriving, successful, in control. But I was unraveling. The endless cycle of striving left me depleted, disconnected from myself, and stuck in a loop of burnout and recovery. The harder I pushed, the further I drifted from the vibrant, joyful life I was actually craving.

Then, I hit a wall. Hard.

To some, this was not a dramatic, movie-worthy breakdown. Not a rock-bottom moment that made it all suddenly clear (despite how abrupt it felt in my world). In all reality, was more like an accumulation of small realizations—like my body was whispering, then speaking, then shouting that I couldn't keep living like this. I woke up one day and realized that I didn't even know what true peace felt like. That scared me more than anything.

I knew I needed a different way, but I had no idea what that looked like. What I did know was that I couldn’t continue on the path I was on. And so, I began dismantling the beliefs and habits that had kept me stuck.

The Shift: From Forcing to Flow

At first, I resisted slowing down. I had trained myself to believe that stillness meant stagnation, that rest meant laziness. But when I finally allowed myself to pause, something incredible happened—I heard my own voice again. The real one, buried beneath the noise of productivity culture and perfectionism. And she wasn’t asking me to do more. She was asking me to do less.

Instead of rigidly forcing myself into routines that drained me, I started listening to what my body, mind, and soul actually needed. Some days that meant deep, intentional work. Other days that meant rest without guilt. I started anchoring into my intentions multiple times a day instead of relying on one “perfect” morning routine to set the tone. I let go of the idea that success was about pushing harder and instead embraced the idea that alignment was the real key to thriving.

The Practices That Changed Everything

This wasn’t an overnight transformation. It was a gradual shift—one rooted in small, sustainable practices that created lasting change. Here are three of the biggest shifts that took me from burnout to flow:

1. Gratitude as a Way of Being

I had always heard about the power of gratitude, but for years, my practice was surface-level. It was just another thing to check off the list. But when I started using gratitude as a tool for rewiring my perspective—truly feeling it, seeing evidence of it all around me—everything changed. That’s why I created the Gratitude Glow Journal, to help others tap into this deeper level of gratitude that shifts your soul, not just your thoughts.

2. Working With My Natural Rhythms

I stopped forcing myself into routines that weren’t designed for me. Instead, I built a framework that honored my energy cycles, focusing on intentional action rather than productivity for productivity’s sake. This approach became the foundation for The LB Method, a system that helps you build habits that work with you, not against you.

3. Releasing the Need for Perfection

I let go of the idea that transformation had to be all or nothing. That if I “slipped up” or missed a day, I was failing. Instead, I learned to trust myself—to know that even the smallest consistent actions were leading me somewhere meaningful.
